Our Safety History

Ever since our founding in 1927, Volvo has been designing cars that put people first through safety innovations. Continuing this history, Volvo Vision 2020 seeks to dramatically reduce the number of people that die or are seriously injured in automobile accidents to zero. With this program, we're demonstrating our commitment to protect what matters most, people. Through technical research and forward-thinking innovation, Volvo Cars remains an automotive leader in protecting drivers and passengers while on the road.

The Future of Car Safety

Volvo Cars will continue to innovate as we introduce features such as: Speed Cap, Highway Pilot, Driver Monitoring Cameras and Care Key in upcoming models. Our commitment to research, testing and results-driven innovation helps us to make some of the safest Volvo Cars ever built. As we learn more from each of these innovations, we'll continue to improve the future of car safety, as well as, the driver experience.

Safety Innovations Save Lives

Volvo Cars has introduced some of the most effective safety innovations in automotive history. Most notably, Volvo designed and introduced the world to the three-point safety belt in 1959. Since then, this has saved over a million lives. Our goal with new safety innovations, using leading edge technology, is to save a Million More. Our continued implementation of advanced safety features in new Volvo models illustrates our commitment to achieving the Volvo Vision 2020.
